Sandra Wiscarson, President
Arts administration positions with New Jersey, Buffalo and Nashville orchestras in marketing, operations, and as manager. Fund raising professional for Graduate School of Education at Portland State University. Served on Nashville and Oregon Symphony Association in Salem boards. Grew up in Salem and was active in school music which became the foundation for a lifelong love and involvement in music and the belief in the transformative power of school music.
Keith Weathers, Vice-President
Undergraduate music major and masters in composition. His first career was a music educator and his second a music merchant as owner of Weathers Music in Salem. His involvement in Salem-Keizer school music began as an elementary student and continued through high school. He was a music parent and had extensive involvement with school music programs in Salem and statewide for forty years. He was a long-time conductor of Salem Concert Band and is currently board president of Capital Manor, a continuing care retirement community.
Karen Sewell, Secretary
“I was an elementary teacher by training, with a strong desire to provide my students with the best possible experience while in my classroom. Now retired, I want to help provide Salem students with the experience of music lessons so that music might become a lifelong enjoyment for them, as it is for me.” Volunteer at Assistance League Salem-Keizer with many years of leadership experience evaluating, pricing and tracking items for its consignment gift shop.
Cornelia Sims, Treasurer
Math minor at Oregon State University. Current active volunteer in the community. Three years as assistant treasurer and treasurer of the Assistance League Salem-Keizer, an organization focused on services to children and a daily manager at its consignment gift shop. Involvement with piano lessons most of her school years and her children were involved in various music activities.
Gayle Caldarazzo-Doty, Director
Currently: PACE President’s advisory board at Corban University, Western Oregon University Foundation Board raising money for scholarships, member of Children and Families Commission, Economic and Vitality Committee of Salem Mainstreet Assn. (downtown Salem organization). Executive Director of United Way of Mid-Willamette Valley from 2006-2011 after being on their board for nine years and co-chairing the campaign for two years. She has a passion for helping at-risk youth.
Ross Swartzendruber, Director
Owns Black Sheep Advertising, a local ad company. He has been a volunteer in the Salem-Keizer School District for more than twenty years and is the current president of the Straub Middle School Music Boosters. President of Salem Creative Network 2009-2018. He is the founder of two non-profit organizations. He has interest in equity and increasing opportunities for all music students.
Mary Lou Boderman, Ex-officio Director
Coordinator of Music, Salem-Keizer School District
Director of bands at South Salem High School for 21 years prior to her present position. As a music educator for 43 years, she has taught students from preschool through college. She has held numerous positions in professional organizations including president of the Oregon Band Directors Association and is currently a member of the Executive Board of the Oregon Schools Activities Association. She has twice been named Outstanding Music Educator of the Year by both the Oregon branch of the National Federation of High Schools and the Oregon Music Education Association. Most recently, the NFHS named her the outstanding Music Educator of the Year for the six-state northwestern region.
